Good Morning Festival Goers!!

Well, it isn’t too often that the Danby Guy is lost for words.  I have a lot to say but I’ll keep it short for now.  All I want to say is my head is still spinning!  It was our best festival ever and I want to thank each and every one of you who came and supported us.  Without you, we have nothing.  I still can’t get over the Saturday night show and the surprise you played on me.  When I looked out all I saw was a million fireflies!  When you all came to the stage, that was just awesome!  And we kind of played one on Tom Venne.  Well, it brought a tear to my eyes, so THANK YOU ONE AND ALL!!

Now, my show couldn’t run the way it did without my Emcee, Don Sprague.  Thanks Don for keeping us right on time, telling the stories, and joining in on the stage fun.  You’re the best; much appreciated.  Pete and Cora Bolster, your sound was great and you did a real good job.  It’s a hard job but you have got it down; thank you.  I want to thank Pete and Mary Powers for letting us use their land.  You are great and also great friends to me; THANK YOU.  I want to thank Tonya Powers for running the cookshack.  She is amazing, coming up with great menus and keeping the prices down as much as she can.  It’s hot in there but she and all her help don’t complain.  So thank you cookshack guys and gals.

I want to thank Dave Powers for laying out the field and Cher Powers for running the ticket booth and meeting & greeting all the festival goers.  Long hours; you are much appreciated.  Thank you both!!  I want to thank Walt Teer for all he does for our club; not an easy job.  Thanks Jill Teer and your gals for selling all the 50/50’s; you are amazing.  Thank you Clayt Morris for the great shuttle service you provided for us this year and thank you to Brown Enterprises Inc for providing the vehicle. Thanks Adam Louden for putting the new addition on the cookshack for us and Jim Gill who helped on the new fences by the stage.  Thank you to my son, Jon Jesmonth of Accura Printing, for designing and printing our festival booklets; fantastic job and much appreciated!  Thank you to all of the local business who helped sponsor our festival; your financial support helps us keep the festival going.

I want to thank all the bands who played this year.  You all were great and contributed to our great success.  A big thank you to Dave Nichols for providing the Blueridge Bristol guitar and hardcase, and donating every penny of the raffle proceeds to the festival; these funds are a tremendous help to our festival!  Thank you to Nadine Nichols for all the miles she walked to take nearly 700 festival photos.  We are thrilled to have the photos; thank you so much!  I want to thank Brenda Vitek for doing all the website and social media work for us, and I want to thank my wife Cathy for putting up with me.  I probably left someone out and, if I did, I’m sorry; my head is still spinning.  Every one of you should be proud of what we accomplished this year!

Well, that’s it for now.  I’m already planning next year’s show, so stay tuned.  THANK YOU ALL AGAIN!!

Hey everyone!

It’s just the Danby Guy, getting back to earth from the Jenny Brook festival. Yes sireeee, the festival season is now upon us. Candi, thanks for putting on such a beautiful festival, and bringing such good talent to the Green Mountains. It sure put me in the festival mood, and now my task at hand will start. Well, if it stops raining the hay will be gone, and I can’t wait to uncover the stage, get up the light fixtures in the field, and yah, I do have Sirius XM 61 just a blaring when I’m doing it. Nothing like good bluegrass music to get ya in the mood!

I’m really excited, this is our 9th year, and we have an awesome lineup. We are small but there will be great music on stage, and in the field. I saw it firsthand last year and plan on it again. I was talking to Tom Venne of Beartracks and he is ready. He said they had some new stuff for us, and Julie said they had some surprises in store. Man, what a show they put on last year! Hey, talking about going the extra mile, what about Zink & Company, doing a special 2-hour concert for us on Thursday night, because he couldn’t be here for the weekend?! They are special people. They will give it all they’ve got, and want you smiling when you leave. Well, if ya like a little country, we have it with Don Bishop & The Mountaineeers, and Cannonball Express; you won’t be disappointed!

Now, what can I say, we are a part of the farewell tour of the great great legend, Mister Smokey Greene. He will be playing in his own backyard, as he grew up not far from the festival.  So, this is one show you don’t want to miss!  It is hard to believe Smokey will cut back, but he says he is, so don’t miss him!!

Now, if you were at Jenny Brook festival this year, you probably saw Aaron Foster on stage working with the Kids Academy. But at Danby, you will see him on stage with his band called Destination Blue. And I guarantee ya, they will knock your socks off! This one you don’t want to miss!

Bob Amos & Catamount Crossing will be back. They are really great, it’s called they have got their <> well, stuff <> together! They are so good and you won’t be disappointed. We will have a very good show from your host band, Just Passin’ Thru, right through to the end. And if you don’t let Beartracks off the stage, it’s OK with me! I know they won’t disappoint; they can always bunk with Harry Ralph.

New this year is Dave Nichols & Spare Change. They have been at it for a long time and won’t disappoint. Plus, Dave is generously donating a beautiful Blueridge guitar and hard case to a lucky raffle winner. Dave’s wife, Nadine, will be donating her time taking festival photos – don’t forget to smile pretty for the camera! And maybe we can get Brian to yodel for us!

The Seth Sawyer Band will be here. What a voice (eat your heart our Ricky Skaggs)! What a terrific job they do but I can’t describe it; you will just have to hear them in person. And oh yah, they have a new CD out; it’s about time!!

Well, what can I say; I’m excited, can’t ya tell?! Our sponsorships are up this year, so I guess people are liking what we do, and want to be a part of it. So, thank you one and all for the donations. MUCH APPRECIATED!!

Things are going to be getting busy for this old guy, so we will see you, one and all, at Danby. So bring your cheeries and your smiles, play some tunes, meet old friends, make new friends, and just plain enjoy what we have to offer!

See you there!

TJ, the Danby Guy!!
